Keep squeezing drops of the Sun
From your prayers and work and music
And from your companions’ beautiful laughter

And from the most insignificant movements
Of your own holy body.

Now, sweet one,
Be wise.
Cast all your votes for Dancing!

Hafiz

There is a wise open space, deep roots, a river of flow, a warm heart in you that can meet you as you are with curiosity and listen to what you need. When you connect with this presence in movement or stillness, you will find that you are the one you have always wanted to dance with.

Our gentle and creative explorations will guide you to welcome all your parts and connect your feelings, sensations and thoughts that arise to compassionate energy of Self. You will be invited to find movement, sound and other expressions for your essence and parts of you that will be with you and need attention. You will leave feeling lighter, clearer and more connected.

The movement session will include:

  • Compassionate movement warm up and introductions

  • Short introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS) model and Dance Movement Therapy

  • Short meditation and setting up a courageous and safe space for all parts to feel welcome

  • Guided movement improvisations with your parts and Self to uplifting music

  • Solo inner work - writing, drawing

  • Small group work - optional sharing or just listening, finding a sense of common humanity

  • Final creative movement with all of you

  • Gratitude and appreciations

What to bring:

  • All you parts

  • Clothing you are comfortable to move in

  • Blanket for extra comfort

  • Cushion to sit on. Chairs will be available too.

  • Notebook and pen

  • Bottle of water

Paper and pastels will be available for image making.

There will be teas and coffees available before the workshop starts to help you to settle in.

Who is it for:

Everyone is welcome. No previous experience of IFS, dance or movement is required just willingness and curiosity about your inner world and desire to express yourself in movement.

It can be especially beneficial for those with interest in IFS and creative movement- practitioners, therapists, teachers and artists.

Arrive no later than 1:45pm to settle into the space.
